The advice animals.

Step one: the birth of the rainbow

background.
Photograph of a happy dog quickly

begins to spread bad advice.

The themes or character of the advice

is not yet specified.
The harmless and cute

character/appearance of the puppy

justifies the bad advice he gives.
A one pane image with a specific

animal talks about a subject trough

the character of this animal.
First wave of spinoffs are staying close

to the "Dog" meme.

But the cute character of

the dog dissapears when ( for

example) Courage wolf and

insantity wolf are created.
the most recognised module is the

background pattern, which only

changes color per specific meme.
Visual style spreads to other animals

but also humans and objects.

The colorfull background is no longer

limited to use for advice dogs.

It is starting to become a template for

memes in general
The visual style no longer restricts

itself to bad advice from animals ed.

Connotations with images combined

with the highly recognisable colored

background begin to emerge into

storytelling.
They often describe short happenings

or situations / personal experiences.
Advertising attempts to use the new

meme connotations to sell their

product.

However,

The meaning of the memes is often

misinterpreted and fails to deliver

the right message to the target group.

MEME

What is

a meme?

Step 1. Something gets created.

Step 2. Relatable aspects of this creation

trigger a larger group of people to react to the

creation. "Something" get spread around the internet

and soon as it becomes popular in this area, (virals)

it can receive a label: Meme

Step 3. After a meme is born, certain aspects of

the "something" are being re used by others to

create something new. (Mutation / Adaptation)

Spinn-offs can turn out to become new memes.
Viral campaigns / Projects
A notable aspect in the succes of a viral campaign appears to be whether the

content is believable or not.

Obvious fakes often receive a fair amount of raw negative opinions, thanks to

the anonymity people have on the web.

Apart from whether people believe what they see it true, another import aspect of a

succesfull viral campaign, especially when it's for a commercial brand, seems

to be the absence of the brand in the viral.

It keeps people's attention as opposed

to campaigns where the brand is obiviously advertised.

The internet doesn't want to be tricked, it wants to be entertained.
Examples of succesfull viral campaigns
Meme research:
Misinpretation is often ridiculed

and / or hated by meme users.

People are very expressive about this.
